I’m really excited to be showcasing Seattle-based artist Dain Fagerholm’s work in this interview feature, whose awesome little monster gif’s you’ve no doubt seen while browsing around tumblr (which is actually where I first encountered his work, and instantly reblogged, how could I not, it was irrestible!)  Here goes:

How do you describe your artistic style?

Sketchy. Scribbly. Scratchy.  I like Edward Gorey and his style has definitely influenced my own. My hand is constantly moving when I am drawing in zigzaggy waves. All my drawings are like tiny seismographs recording my thoughts.

Which medium do you primarily work in?

BIC Ultras. Any cheap ballpoint pen will do really, but the pen itself must flow when I’m drawing. I like Sharpies and fluorescent highlighters a lot.  I have tons of pens snd sharpies in a pile on my desk.  Its a mess really. 8)

 What inspires you?

DIE ANTWOORD.  YO-LANDI Vi$$er.   They really changed my life with their music and their South African zef culture.  Its a beautiful thing.  I love Yo-landi more than anything right now. 8)

Thank you Dain for participating! Also, I wanted to share with you guys that Dain is auctioning off his original drawing of Gem Creature on ebay, and he will be donating 25% of whatever it sells to RAINN (the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network).  That’s so awesome!!  Here is the link: Ebay auction for Gem Creature
