I’m smitten with Joanna Neborsky‘s illustration titled “A Partial Inventory of Gustave Flaubert’s Personal Effects,” which recently appeared in the Paris Review. It paints a picture of the 155 objects found in Gustave Flaubert‘s house on May 20, 1880, twelve days after the French writer’s death, objects including a panama hat, 7 walking sticks, a gold watch chain and a top hat. (Found via Shakespeare and Co. Bookshop’s facebook) Note: For those of you who forgot, Flaubert is the great French novelist most famous for penning Madame Bovary.
